wish I could be more cutting, droll, and sardonic every time I see the rush to assure men that feminism helps them just as much.

but, I’m more or less just really terrified of the men who need to know how not hurting women will help them before they stop.

"As a child I never heard one woman say to me, “I love my body.” Not my mother, my elder sister, my best friend. No one woman has ever said, “I am so proud of my body.” So I make sure to say it to Mia, because a positive physical outlook has to start at an early age."

People want to hear that social justice is easy. That it’s a question of being a decent person to everyone and there’s no great reason not to do it. People think that, and you hear them express shock and surprise that society still oppresses people.

But it’s not easy. It’s…

Remember that our parents felt just as self-righteous about their parents’ ideology during the civil rights movement/counter culture movement/sex revolution. And I’m pretty sure your parents are just as myopic as mine. God knows how much shit we’re missing that our kids would scoff at.

Friendly reminder that The Simpsons recently had an episode that portrayed trans women as men in dresses who are doing it solely to trick lesbians into fucking them. The Simpsons is a piece of shit and no better than Family Guy in my eyes.

OMFG I REMEMBER THAT EPISODE

when i was a kid i just went with it omfg they fed me so much shit ;A;

It’s pathetic as fuck. It aired back in 2005 I guess, I thought it was more recent but fuck it was horrible.

Simpsons transmisogyny goes way way back.

No, the character never was presented as trans*, he was presented as someone who cross-dressed to play in the WPGA. When exposed, he asked Patty to marry him as he was, as a man. That’s not a trans character, nor did they represent the character as being representative of trans* people.

Nobody does that. The idea that a man would disguise himself as a woman to lure a cis lesbian is the type of thing radscum perpetuate all the time to police trans women and demonize them and make them out to be men. Constantly, people see trans women as men in disguise or pretending to be women. In the picture of the beautiful women, the man said they “used to be men” obviously that means they are women and identify as women. The woman criticizing Marge’s hair and voice said that she was “turned inside out” by doctors, meaning she got bottom surgery. That’s not what cis male crossdressers do.

Also, trans women are constantly conflated with crossdressers and drag queens as a way of delegitimizing their genders. There are cross dressers in the media and ways of clearly presenting them as such without conflating them with trans women or being transmisogynist (I’m thinking of Haruhi’s father in Ouran Host Club). But it’s pretty clear that most of the women in that video are meant to be trans women, just offensively portrayed.

Further sh*m*le is a slur that is used numerous times in that video and people continually react with disgust in the video, which is transmisogynist. I don’t know how you can argue any different.

I'm confused. Why isn't "biological male/female" okay to say? It sounds more easily understood than AMAB/AFAB. Yes, AFAB's more comfortable than bio female. But why is it rude to say "bio female"? (I'm AFAB and androgynous preferring male pronouns)

I’m honestly a little foggy on the subject myself, I personally never really had a problem with it because I see it as more of a blanket statement to differentiate bodies with penises and bodies with vaginae/breasts, but I think it’s that it genders biology which is something we don’t want people to do because it assumes that all bodies with x organs are x gender. I hope I’m explaining this right, if I’m not, someone please correct me!

It’s wrong because female and male are gendered terms, so when you use that term you are misgendering people and could easily make them dysphoric. Not to mention the terms are inaccurate. Calling a trans woman who has been on HRT for years and has breasts “biologically male” is not just offensive but it’s incorrect and doesn’t even describe her body properly: lumping her with cis men would result in terrible or incomplete medical care.

Also, “biological sex” is a construction. The construction harms intersex people as well as trans people. What constitutes “male” or “female” is not as simple as people think, and not everyone fits that “biologically” even at birth. The whole construct of being “biologically” male or female is used to undermine trans people’s identities. And the idea you can separate cissexist ideas about gender from the construction of biological sex is not true. Because the cis-centric constructions of gender is tied to biological sex, which is why most people think your gender is determined by what parts you have and that people have “differently gendered brains” All of this is really harmful transphobic and sexist stuff that we need to do away with.
